Shower Party

In anticipation to the surprise bridal shower that I was so sure I'm gonna have, I've been going around for several weekends all dressed up. I go to malls, lounge at houses all dolled up just so I could be ready for the event I've been waiting for. I even practiced my shocked expression at the shout of "Surprise!". :) But one weekend, after weeks of expecting (and dressing up and practicing) with nothing happening, I've finally given up on the idea. And, you guessed it right, that's when they surprised me! In my shorts, t-shirt and tsinelas (darn, I knew I should have kept some clothes in the car!). Yep, that's me, the lady with terribly bad timing but with absolutely wonderful family and friends. :)

Oh, not only did I celebrate my shower party in my pambahay, I also got dumped into the pool later that night. See, that's why boys are not supposed to be invited to shower parties! hehe. :)

P.S.
I also forgot to do my practiced surprised look tsk. :)

Payback Time

At the onset of our wedding preps, we agreed to be all frugal and nice. To spend only on the "needs", none on the "wants". And even though a part of me has been itching to splurge on clothes for months now, I remained very faithful to that pact, behaved like the perfect wife-to-be, one who knows how to stay within the budget, limit the expenses, one who turns away from sales. For that, I believe that after the wedding, I deserve some reward right? Some credit card-whipping action type of reward. So to avoid wasting precious post-wedding time, I already have some inspirations for a dress that I plan to have after the wedding. :)

Wedding Day Hairstyle

I've been poring over my mags collection and browsing through websites to find me my wedding day hairstyle. I've been envisioning an updo with a few curls falling out, not such a tight bun. Here's what my research has brought me so far:

Faux Calligraphy

For those who want calligraphy-look writing for their invites but would not want to spend too much for it, here's a clever way to do it (a wonderful idea from jenn) -- basically, just print the address (using your chosen computer font) on the envelope in a slightly darker color, just visible enough to allow you to trace over it using a pen of a contrasting color and viola! you have a elegant, handwritten look on your invites. Click here for the step by step diy.

Glass Jar Frames

A new discovery! Here's a unique and easy way to display your pictures and recycle those jars you don't want to throw out. Courtesy of photojojo, these glass jar frames takes us away from those traditional frames. Click here for the complete project instructions.

Prenup Preps

Before we started our wedding preparations, I never even heard of prenups -- well, I did, but only in reference to prenuptial agreements. Now, having been bitten by the wedding bug, I'm running all over the place, husband-to-be in tow, just to make sure that all the smallest wedding-related details (yes, including our prenup) would turn out great.

So far I've busied the two of us for these prenup preps:
1. Convinced h2b to purchase contact lenses -- I don't want him to be wearing his eyeglasses in the photos. The timing of our prenup is also perfect, the contact lenses would last for three months, just in time for our wedding day.
2. Had my nails frenchtipped -- I am envisioning glam shots so mani and pedi frenchtips would be the perfect choice!
3. Had my upperlip waxed -- this is the first time I've tried it and it's not as painful as I have imagined. However (I guess I had a small allergic reaction to the wax), a little chicken skin is there now. It's not actually that visible but whenever I run my fingers over my upperlip, I can feel a few, tiny bumps. Tip: if you're waxing for the first time, make sure you do it way ahead of whatever ocassion it is that you're preparing for just so you would know how your skin would react to it.
4. Shopped -- as I mentioned, we wanted glam shots for our prenup so after going through my stuff... okay, okay, I just used this as an excuse to shop! :)
5. Visited the destist -- we scheduled our regular visit for dental cleaning in time for the prenup. Time to flash your killer smile! We'll come back days before our wedding.
6. Took a leave from work -- I hate calling in sick, so I really have to inform my office ahead of time. Same goes for h2b.
7. Convinced someone to take a leave from work also -- aside from being glamorous, I want our shots to be happy ones so my sister will be coming with us, the more the merrier!
8. Reminded the photographer and make-up artist of our appointment -- an OC bride wouldn't fail to do this!

Things I have yet to do:
1. Shave my legs -- did I mention I want glam shots? :)
2. Hydrate -- I've been drinking water in crazily huge amounts and I will continue on doing just that.
3. Take anti-allergy pills -- I have a hypersensitive skin so this I have to do to make sure no unwanted rashes pop out during our shoot.
4. Have a good night's sleep -- I tend to get overly excited so I don't know how I'm going to manage this.

Photobooths!

Photobooths are the latest craze in weddings. With everyone having a camera or cameraphone these days, it is no longer a surprise that posing for the vintage photobooths fully dressed up and made up to nines with your friends or families for consecutive shots is now a novelty.

So of course we'll also be having one on our wedding (courtesy of two of my girlfriends who lovingly gave it to me as a gift!). Which is why lately I've been obsessing over the perfect way to inform our guests to visit the photobooth. I'm planning to put this sign on every table:

I might also attach our own pictures taken from photobooths. :)

Pretty, pretty shoes

I so love shoes especially the high-heeled ones. Sadly though, my feet doesn't agree with me. They're built for flip-flops and flats. I put on a high-heeled shoe and they complain right away. But this doesn't stop me from buying these lovely shoes. I have quite a collection now which sometimes I arrange by color and height and just take pictures of it. My entire collection is composed of peep toes. Yes, toe showing is a requirement for me.

I haven't picked a shoe for my wedding yet but I'm thinking of wearing a brightly colored pair of shoes. These are some of the shoes I'm considering, I'll probably have them custom-made although my designer warned me that the custom-made ones are very uncomfortable. Uh-oh my feet will probably kill me. :)

Planning our wedding

I'm totally loving planning my wedding (but not the stress that comes with it). I've bought dozens of wedding magazines, collected hundreds of brochures, inquired with countless vendors and had a lo-ot of sleepless nights because of the anticipation. Wish I could remain a bride-to-be forever hehe. Nevertheless, our wedding day is fast approaching! We'll be having our pre-nuptial photoshoot five days from now -- oops I have yet to inform my boss about my leave. Can't wait to see how the pictures would turn out!
